16" x 20", acrylic on wood. Created for the show "Cats vs. Dogs" at the Vendue. Luck Cat: I was reading about folklore of cats and came across stories of Irish sailors having black cats on their ships for good luck. Another told of the wives of sailors having a black cat as a good luck charm to insure their husbands' safe return from sea.
16" x 20" acrylic on wood Created for the show "Cats vs. Dogs" at the Vendue. Swamp Flowers: While I was deciding on what dog to paint came across "pariah dogs" and more specifically the "Carolina dog" breed. Pariah dogs are wild breeds that have lived on the outskirts of human settlements. The Carolina dog was discovered as one such wild breed in the 1970's, especially inhabiting swamp areas away from people. Also featured in this painting is the American Lotus and Beautyberries.
